Hyperpigmentation

Irritation
Keep your skin cool, calm and hydrated. The more irritated and compromised your skin is, the more stubborn your hyperpigmentation will become. A gentle, consistent skincare routine is key.
Sun Protection
UV Rays worsen hyperpigmentation. Wear a hat and wear lots of sunscreen, both indoors and outdoors.
Antioxidants
Did you know that melanin (the natural pigment in your skin) is an antioxidant? When your skin is stressed, for example when you have a pimple, melanin is overproduced to protect your skin. Supplying your skin with topical antioxidants can reduce melanin production.
Tyrosinase Inhibitors
The enzyme tyrosinase is needed to produce melanin. Reducing its production can improve hyperpigmentation. Look for products containing Arbutin, Azelaic Acid, and Vitamin C.
Cell Turnover
Exfoliate regularly and use a retinoid to increase cell turnover. As long as you choose gentle products, these will even out the skin tone and revitalize your skin.
Time and Patience
If you are consistent with sun protection and a simple, gentle skincare routine, you *will* see results over time.
